Riley Whitelaw’s mother, friends and supporters came to our House this past weekend to prepared and serve an amazing brunch for those staying with us. Brunch included croissant sandwiches, eggs, pancakes and fruit. The families loved it! We thank them for their kindness!

You may remember the story and our connection to the Whitelaw family.

Courtenay and daughter, Riley, decided they wanted to volunteer together at our RMH. They never got the chance. Riley’s life was tragically taken from her.

Yet we still have had the opportunity to walk with Courtenay this past year. After being introduced by Board Members Bill and Leslie Stahelin, our Community Room became the meeting space for Courtenay to engage with State Senators and other community leaders, as she advocated for new laws to protect children victim’s and witnesses’ rights to privacy.

Tuesday, May 23^rd, 2023 our Ronald McDonald House played host to, Governor Jared Polis, with Courtenay and State Sen. Tony Exum, Representative Brianna Titone, Riley’s friends and classmates (who testified twice at the State House), and a roomful of supporters, signed Riley’s Law and made it official.  Minors who are victims or witnesses to crimes will now be protected and their names not released to the public.

We have come to love both Riley and Courtenay. We are honored to walk this journey with them and we advocate always for the protection and safety of children and families. And today we were honored to host the signing of Riley’s Law, also known as Riley’s Halo.
