Volunteers Are The Backbone Of Our Charity

Ronald McDonald House of Southern Colorado is dedicated to keeping families and their critically ill children together while providing essential care and support.  Our volunteers play a crucial role in delivering our mission.  We are grateful for your desire to volunteer with us.  We hope that you find opportunities that align with your passions and talents, helping you make a meaningful impact.

Every volunteer’s journey at our Ronald McDonald House began with one simple word, “YES!” Yes I’d like to help families in possibly the most trying time of their lives. Yes, I’d like to become a member of a team who gives of their time for a common good. Yes, I choose to serve with others to help!

We’d love to have you, thank you for considering our charity!

Core Volunteers

Core volunteers are crucial to the daily operations of our House, Family Room located in Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs and the Hospitality Cart located in the Children’s Outpatient clinic. They ensure that programs run smoothly and maintain the high level of care we offer our guests.

Shift Details

Core volunteers can serve in many different ways:

  • House Volunteers: serve for 4-hour shifts in either a reception or in a guest services role. They make our House a warm environment by cleaning, organizing, answering our phone, welcoming guests, accepting donations, checking families out and other supportive tasks. House volunteers must be at least 16 years old and commit to volunteering a minimum of one time per month for at least six months.
  • Family Room Volunteers: serve for 3 or 4 hours shifts at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs. They greet guests, manage sign-ins, provide tours, replenish items, answer the phone and other supportive tasks. Must be at least 18 years old and committed to volunteering one time per month for at least six months.  Volunteers must also go through the hospital’s onboarding process and have standard vaccinations plus seasonal flu vaccine.
  • Hospitality Cart Volunteers serve for 4-hour shifts inside Children’s Colorado Outpatient Care at Briargate. Shifts are available 7:30am-11:30am, Tuesday through Thursday. They bring comfort to outpatient patients, families, and staff through the house-shaped rolling cart. The cart travels through all of the waiting rooms offering drinks, snacks and toys. Must be 18 years and older, committed to 6 months, and have standard vaccinations plus seasonal flu vaccine.
  • Volunteer Teams are a way to volunteer one time a month without serving a standard 4-hour shift.  Click here for all the different teams we offer.

Core volunteers must complete our onboarding process and commit to volunteering once a month for at least six months.

The onboarding process includes

  1. Completion of application
  2. Background check completion
  3. Attend Orientation
  4. Attend House training, Family Room or Hospitality Cart training
